Join the Our Garden Volunteer List
United Way’s Hunger Coalition is looking for volunteers interested in supporting Our Garden throughout the growing season.
Our Garden is a welcoming community space where people can gather, learn, and access fresh food for free during the growing season. The project helps increase access to locally grown fresh produce throughout Marathon County. Produce harvested from the garden is shared with volunteers and local food pantries.
By signing up, you will be added to a volunteer contact list and notified when garden workdays, planting dates, harvest opportunities, and other volunteer needs are scheduled.
No gardening experience? No problem! We welcome anyone who enjoys being outdoors, getting their hands dirty, and helping create something meaningful for the community.
Volunteer Activities May Include
- Weeding and preparing garden beds
- Planting seeds and seasonal crops
- Watering and maintaining garden spaces
- Harvesting produce
- General garden cleanup and upkeep
What to Expect
- Volunteer opportunities take place outdoors.
- Tools, gloves, and knee pads may be provided depending on the activity.
- Volunteers are encouraged to bring water, sunscreen, snacks, and sun protection.
- Some workdays may involve bending, kneeling, lifting, or extended time outdoors.
Why It Matters
By volunteering with Our Garden, you are helping create a space where neighbors can gather, learn about gardening, and access locally grown produce at no cost.
Whether you volunteer once or throughout the season, your time helps strengthen food access and community connection in Marathon County.
