Woodland & Restoration Spaces | Shad
As the season warms up at Monk Botanical Gardens, we're looking for volunteers to help keep our grounds beautiful and thriving. These three spaces — the Wildflower Woods, Memory Circle, and Herbie's Garden — are among the oldest and most storied areas on the property, and each one is ready for some renewed love and attention. Whether you're drawn to restoration work, quiet reflection, or caring for woodland plantings, there's meaningful work to be done here. Your efforts will help bring these spaces back to life and keep them feeling like the special places they are. Better yet, bring a friend and make a day of it!
What You'll Do
- Restoration-focused work in naturalistic woodland settings
- Weeding and bed care for shade-tolerant understory plantings
- Sweeping and cleaning of paver surfaces in Memory Circle
- Helping shape the future of spaces with deep roots in the gardens' history
Who We're Looking For
Volunteers who are excited by a challenge, enjoy shaded woodland work, or are looking for a quieter, lower-intensity contribution. All three spaces welcome different energy levels — from hands-on restoration to gentle tidying. No formal experience required — just a willingness to dig in and a love for the outdoors. This is a great opportunity to volunteer solo, bring a friend, or meet like-minded community members who share a love for the outdoors.
