The Open Door Of Marathon County, Inc.

Who We Are

A Community of Volunteers Offering Support, Stability, and Second Chances

The Open Door of Marathon County is a community powered network of volunteers who show up for people experiencing homelessness and individuals reentering the community after incarceration. We meet people at one of the most vulnerable moments in their lives — and offer a safe place, a warm welcome, and practical support rooted in dignity and compassion.

Our mission is to provide charitable and educational services that meet both the immediate and long term needs of neighbors who are rebuilding their lives. Through resource referrals, hospitality, and a non judgmental environment, we help guests navigate their next steps with confidence.

We serve individuals coming out of the Marathon County Jail and the state prison system, as well as anyone facing homelessness. Volunteers are the heart of our work — every connection, every conversation, every act of kindness is made possible because community members choose to show up.

The Open Door proudly partners with local service providers, strengthening the network of support available to people seeking stability and a fresh start.

If you’re someone who believes in compassion, second chances, and community care, you’ll fit right in here.

What We Do

A Safe Place, a Warm Welcome, and Support for a Fresh Start

The Open Door of Marathon County provides temporary, compassionate support for people experiencing homelessness and individuals newly released from jail or prison. Each morning, we offer a safe, calm space where guests can rest, have a cup of coffee, and talk with volunteers about resources that can help them take their next steps.

Guests can access weather‑appropriate clothing, donated food, and friendly guidance in a non‑judgmental environment. Volunteers help create a welcoming place where people feel seen, respected, and supported during a vulnerable time in their lives.

Our drop‑in hours are 5:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
