Habitat For Humanity Of Wausau

Who We Are

Habitat for Humanity of Wausau partners with local families to create safe, stable housing through a range of hands‑on programs that strengthen our community. Our work is powered by volunteers, in‑kind donations, and the generosity of ReStore supporters.

Home Builds

We work alongside partner families to build simple, affordable homes that create long‑term stability. Volunteers help with construction tasks of all kinds — no experience required.

Home Repair Program

This program supports homeowners who need essential repairs to maintain safety, accessibility, and livability. Volunteers assist with projects that help families stay in the homes they love.

Grab Bar Program

We install grab bars for older adults and individuals with mobility needs, helping them move safely and confidently in their homes.

Ramp Up Program

Our team builds accessibility ramps for community members who need safer, easier entry into their homes. Volunteers make these life‑changing projects possible.

ReStore

The ReStore funds much of our mission through the resale of donated building materials, solid wood furniture, appliances, and household items.

Every donation and every volunteer hour helps local families build strength, stability, and independence.

    What We Do

Since 1990, Habitat for Humanity of Wausau has partnered with 70+ families to create long‑term housing stability. Our local affiliate manages every step of the process — construction, mortgages, and homeowner selection.

Partner families are chosen based on:

    • Need for safe, affordable housing

    • Ability to repay a low‑interest mortgage

    • Willingness to work alongside Habitat staff and volunteers

Volunteers play a vital role in building simple, affordable homes that strengthen our community one family at a time.
