Part Shade | Well-Maintained
As the season warms up at Monk Botanical Gardens, we're looking for volunteers to help keep our grounds beautiful and thriving. The Shade & Hosta Garden is one of our most lush and inviting spaces — a beautifully maintained part-shade garden featuring hostas, hydrangeas, mature trees, and a variety of decorative plantings that together create a cool, calming retreat on the property. Your time here helps keep this beloved space looking its very best. Better yet, bring a friend and make a day of it!
What You'll Do
- Weeding and mulching garden beds
- Trimming and general upkeep of hostas, hydrangeas, and decorative plantings
- Assisting with seasonal cleanup and maintenance
- Working alongside members of the Central Wisconsin Master Gardeners — a great chance to learn from experienced, passionate horticulturalists
Who We're Looking For
Anyone who enjoys working in a shaded, peaceful garden setting. This is a well-maintained space, so tasks are satisfying rather than overwhelming — perfect for volunteers who want to contribute without taking on a major restoration project. No formal experience required — just a willingness to dig in and a love for the outdoors. This is a great opportunity to volunteer solo, bring a friend, or meet like-minded community members who share a love for the outdoors.
Why Volunteer With Us
The work you do will be seen and felt every day. It's a chance to get outside, learn alongside the Central Wisconsin Master Gardeners, and take pride in a space that brings beauty and calm to everyone who visits. Bring your crew, make some new friends, and help something beautiful grow.
Time Commitment: Flexible — one-time or ongoing, scheduled around your availability.
