The Children’s Imaginarium opened its doors in December 2023 as the result of a true grassroots effort led by passionate community champions who believed in creating a space where children can learn, caregivers can engage, and families can connect. Founders Maggie Gordon and Tammy Szekeress brought this vision to life by rallying community support, building momentum, and securing both the funding and location needed to make it possible. Through years of dedication, persistence, and unwavering commitment, their dream of a children’s museum in downtown Wausau became a vibrant reality for the families of Central Wisconsin.

What We Do

The Children’s Imaginarium is a 10,000‑square‑foot, hands‑on STEM museum built to spark curiosity, connection, and lifelong learning through play. It’s a space where kids, caregivers, and families learn together, strengthening relationships through shared exploration.
